How to Choose the Best Travel Adapter

A universal travel plug is essential for all trips abroad, and whether you are embarking on your journey with a smartphone, tablet, laptop, headphones, camera or Bluetooth speaker, you might as well need an excellent universal plug to be able to use your gadget regardless of which country you may travel.

So how do you identify the right universal travel plug?

The best travel adapters are equipped with USB sockets; so charging up phones, tablets, and other portable devices should be reasonably convenient and the good news is that they are available at an affordable Universal plug Price (ปลั๊ก universal ราคา , which is the term in Thai).

Have in mind that all universal adapter are not the same; some will have at least a couple of USB slots; check they’re rated 2.4V, which will charge your phone quicker, and means it is compatible with a tablet as well.

You can get a Quick Charge 3.0 (QC 3.0) as well, and it even charges faster. If you own a laptop that charges via USB-C, a travel adaptor with built-in USB-PD (USB Power Delivery) is ideal for you and can send 100W into a laptop.

All travel adaptors will not transform voltage, so it is always worth checking to see if you need to purchase a voltage transformer together with the adapter. Most devices are dual voltage rated, so you may not even need a transformer; however, it is always best to check the manual for a guide.

All EU nations have the same voltage as the UK, so it is only the USA, Asia, Australia, Africa, and South America that you have to consider.

Note that high powered devices such as straighteners and hairdryers cannot be used with a travel adaptor, with the advice being to purchase cheap ones when you have arrived at your destination.
