What Should You Know About the SBI PO Mains Cut Off

The State Bank of India conducts the SBI PO recruitment process in three stages. These include – Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam, and Interview/Group discussion. Candidates who qualify for the preliminary exam will be eligible for the Mains exam, which is the second stage of the SBI PO recruitment process. 

Each stage of the exam is essential, and candidates should focus on all three stages. The cut-offs for each step of the recruitment process are published by SBI separately after conducting the examination and declaration of the results. 

The Importance of SBI PO Main Examination Cut-Off

The SBI PO Mains cut off will determine the candidate’s eligibility for appearing in the final round of selection. The cut-off is decided by the exam conducting authorities, and it is different for each category of candidates. The mains cut-off is declared only after the completion of the main examination. 

What Sections Make Up the SBI PO Mains Cut-Off

SBI PO Mains exam comprises two parts – Objective and Descriptive, and the total duration of the exam is three hours. The mains exams objective part consists of reasoning and computer aptitude, data analysis and interpretation, general awareness, and English language. 

The descriptive test includes letter writing and essay. When a candidate answers a wrong question, one-fourth of the marks allotted to the question is reduced as a penalty. 

The mains exam’s total marks are 250 marks, and the SBI PO Mains cut off is calculated out of these 250 marks. Candidates are called for the Group Discussion and Interview based on the cut-off marks, usually three times the number of category-wise vacancies. 

Few things to know about SBI PO Mains Cut-Off:

  1. The cut-off for the mains exam depends on various factors such as the number of candidates who appeared for the exam, the number of vacancies, the difficulty level of the exam, and the previous year’s cut-off marks. 
  2. Candidates who do not meet the cut-off marks will not be eligible to appear for the final stage of the recruitment process. 
  3. The cut-off marks once declared by SBI cannot be contested. 
  4. There is no sectional cut-off, and candidates just need to score equal to or more than the overall cut-off to clear the mains examination. 
  5. There is relaxation in Mains cut-off score for candidates of some categories, including EWS, OBC, SC, ST, etc., as compared to the general category. 
  6. Candidates can check category-wise cut-off marks on the official website by logging with the required credentials.

For the candidate to be eligible for Group discussion and personal interview, you should aim for scoring above the cut-off marks. An analysis of the previous year’s mains cut-off can help candidates predict the upcoming SBI PO mains cut off score and give an idea of what to expect. 

The final merit list of SBI PO recruitment is prepared by considering SBI PO mains’ collective marks and interview and group exercises. This means a candidate must perform well in the SBI PO main exam to increase their chances for final selection.
